Each April, a reflective weekend conference at the Museum draws attendees from across the country. It features American popular culture scholars, theatre historians, former troupers, intriguing research and lively discussion. Participating in the joy of a bygone era makes this conference different from any other theatre history program.

The conference will focus on the variety of entertainment that toured the heartland of America. Papers may include but are not limited to: TENT REP, CIRCLE STOCK, TAB SHOWS, OPERA HOUSES, SHOW BOATS, MINSTEREL SHOWS, “UNCLE TOM'S CABIN” SHOWS. The conference is open to anyone interested in theatre history, performance, popular culture, or any other aspect of rural entertainment. It features theatre historians, popular culturalists, former troupers, intriguing research, lively discussion, and performances.

A $250 scholarship will be awarded to the best paper presented by a college student or a graduate student.
